A female sound improvisation by experimental musician Bex Burch and Dame Evelyn Glennie
An exceptional musician with an exceptional story: Evelyn Glennie grew up in rural Aberdeenshire, deeply rooted in the folklore of her Scottish homeland. When her hearing deteriorated at the age of 8, she discovered the percussion instruments and her own body as a resonance chamber. Today she can look back on a successful career – and now the world’s most famous percussionist is coming to Hanover!
For this exclusive concert at the Überschlag Festival, she has invited an equally-impressive artist to join the dialogue. Bex Burch, born in London, is an outstanding gyil player and sound artist. With a background in ethnomusicology and African musical tradition, Burch has created a unique and creative sound world all of her own.
This will prove to be an unforgettable evening improvised from A to Z by two formidable artists.
