The Language of Bells – Swalefest
The internationally renowned percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie is joined by the Chelys Consort of Viols, Emily Atkinson (soprano), David Gould (counter-tenor), Steven Harrold (tenor) and Robert Rice (baritone). They will perform Jill Jarman’s atmospheric new work, The Language of Bells, which mixes the sounds of old and new, life and death, celebration and mourning, and examines the call of bells pealing across the centuries. The local tower bell ringers will ring a quarter-peal before the concert.
