The Language of Bells – Swalefest
The internationally renowned percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie is joined by the Chelys Consort of Viols, Emily Atkinson (soprano), David Gould (counter-tenor), Steven Harrold (tenor) and Robert Rice (baritone). They will perform Jill Jarman's atmospheric new work, The Language of Bells, which mixes the sounds of old and new, life and death, celebration and mourning, and examines the call of bells pealing across the centuries. The local tower bell ringers will ring a quarter-peal before the concert.

Trio HLK with Evelyn Glennie

On 21st October, Evelyn Glennie will perform together with the Women's Orchestra, orchestra leader Maria Badstue and concertmaster Jonna Simonsson. The program features music by female composers – including Jill Jarman and Andrea Tarrodi. The concert is part of a unique project to highlight female composers and all participants on stage are women.

EVELYN GLENNIE + TRIO HLK
Pioneering solo percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie plays with Scottish improvising ensemble Trio HLK. Their music pulls apart jazz standards into fragments that are at times shimmering and cerebral, at others thunderous and visceral. Intricate and harmonious rhythms meet with a veritable battery of percussion instruments played by Glennie to deliver a performance that is an interactive tour de force.
