‘My aim is to teach the world to listen’. Despite her deafness, Evelyn has become perhaps the world’s most acclaimed percussionist. How does she do it? She taught herself to hear with parts of her body other than her ears, and records and performs her music barefoot. Tonight she hosts a unique evening discussing her career to inspire exceptional young players and celebrate their performances as the culmination of a whole day of all things percussion.

Ever the performer, Evelyn also hints that she might just be persuaded to join a couple of pieces herself accompanied by Wells Cathedral School musicians.

At the end of the concert there will be a collection for the Pete Handley Percussion Award (PHPA), registered charity no 1186223. The PHPA is small charity that seeks to help talented young percussionists with their musical learning.
