Trestle Records invited Evelyn to join a One Day Band with Roly Porter. The two came together at Holy Mountain studios in Hackney, East London. Trestle Record’s One Day Band series encourages musicians to improvise and compose a record in just one day. Often, musicians have had no musical experience together before, and are playing together for the very first time.
The record involves a range of percussion instruments from Evelyn’s growing collection. Instruments used in the recording include Timpani, Waterphone, Tibetan Singing Bowls, Cymbals and a number of smaller instruments throughout the session. The initial idea for the record focused around Evelyn improvising a range of pieces from melodic rhythmical streams to droned notes. Evelyn and Roly then developed the direction of each piece, going around different instruments to create the final result. Roly then recorded segments of Evelyn playing and amplifying it through guitar amps via a chain of distortion effects pedals.
The record was released on the 1st of March 2019. It is now available to listen at www.trestlerec.com
