‘Der gerettete Alberich’ with the Dortmunder Philharmoniker (2)
11 November, 2015 at 08:00 - 22:00
€19The American Christopher Rouse wrote Der gerettete Alberich 1997 for Evelyn Glennie. Not only this dazzling work that on music from Richard Wagner’s Ring des Nibelungen has recourse can, with all sorts verführungs_kunst to fascinate. When Alberich in Ring is the failed seducer seems DonJuan, as he describes in his brilliant Richard Strauss symphonic poem, to be initially successful counterpart. But far from it: “The fuel is consumed / cold and dark and it was on the stove,” it says at the end in the poem by Nikolaus Lenau, which the Don Juan is preceded by: Youth must end, for life is death. By depressing insights like this Beethoven’s 7th Symphony is however free. Richard Wagner called it an apotheosis of dance: A fireworks of joy of life, which ends with an orgy of rhythm.
