Sound Spirits
Recorded at Real World Sound Spirits is a totally improvised recording by the great Danish guitarist Jon Hemmersam and Evelyn. Instead of employing a vast array of percussion instruments, Evelyn decided to place everything inside of a grand piano to create all the natural percussive and resonant sounds heard on this recording. No enhancement of any kind is used for either musician. The listener experiences two musicians, never having met before this recording, both hearing-impaired, both connecting on a level that was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Reflected in Brass – Evelyn Glennie meets the Black Dyke Band
The world’s most innovative instrumentalist adds a new dimension to her vast collection of recorded repertoire. Glennie is considered the world’s greatest percussionist. In this recording she performs a wide array of xylophone repertoire from the era when this instrument was king, accompanied by the world’s greatest brass band.

Michael Daugherty: Philadelphia Stories / UFO
Michael Daugherty is one of the most performed American composer of concert music of his generation. The London Times has described him as a ‘master icon-maker’ and hailed his ‘maverick imagination, fearless structural sense and meticulous ear’. Written for Evelyn Glennie, who gave the world première performance, UFO is inspired by unidentified flying objects and sounds. The final movement, Objects, features virtuosic drumming by the percussion soloist at warp speed to suggest the outer trappings and inner machinery of a fine-tuned alien aircraft.
